Homabay’s governor Cyprian Awiti on Thursday tabled to the County Public Accounts and Investment Committee (CPAIC) a letter written in German.
The letter according to him explained why he had stayed out of office for long. It revealed that the governor had been seeking treatment over eyesight problems. This brought confusion to the committee members who could not understand what was written in the letter.
“I have been unwell. I cannot even read well now. I was recently in Germany and India for treatment. My eyes are really troubling me,” he explained.
The CPAIC is made up of senators Moses Kajwang’ who is the chairperson and Franklin Mithika Linturi who is the vice-chair. Other members include Adan Dulo Fatuma, Kimani Wamatagi Paul, Kibiru Charles Reubenson, Omanga Millicent, Mwinyi Haji Mohamed, Olekina Ledama and Prof. Ongeri Samson Kegengo.
